Doesn’t self-reporting cause problems? We acknowledge that, in some circumstances, self-reporting can create bias within an evaluation. We have sought to address this by using a ‘cycle of change’ approach whereby the participant can choose a description that most suits them at that time. In addition, by explaining the purpose of the evaluation, a project manager can encourage participants to give the most accurate response they can. No reporting procedure will provide 100% accuracy, but we have demonstrated through rigorous testing that the Tool can evaluate change and direction of travel. This complements and gives added depth to other methods that record reductions in energy use, footprint, recycling rates, etc by recording subtleties in attitude and mindset change. |
